HJ Kaiser, J Flammer, P Gasser: Ocular vasospasm in children |
Vasospasms can occur already in childhood. Mostly they appear as reversible visual field defects during emotional stress. Today we know that they are not actual spasms, but rather a manifestation of primary vascular dysregulation, usually as a component of Flammer syndrome. This in turn is usually predisposed, but manifests itself especially after puberty and then weakens throughout life, in women especially a few years after menopause. |
